Kiva, Loans that change lives
At Collaborate, we’re always ready to help the under-privileged and an initiative such as Kiva is a great idea. Kiva says it best, “Kiva’s mission is to connect people through lending for the sake of alleviating poverty. Kiva is the world’s first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend to unique entrepreneurs around the globe.”
Please log on and lend.
Thanks.
Nice website Duplays…
On its 3rd attempt, the website is now clear, simple and concise. As the only media outlet to present its product offerings, it can only be just that.
I’ve always believed the boys at Duplays have a great idea on their hands and I wish them much success in the future…partly cause I’m a member of their flag football league…Go Ocho Cincos!
First Fashion Show on Ice at Dubai Mall
A collaboration worth talking about: Aiisha Ramadan and Victoria Casal produced “The Love Affair collection” and the fashion show was held on the ice rink at The Dubai Mall. Another event executed by our friend, Danielle Wilson from CS-PR Group.
Heard it was great Danny.

Dubai Fashion Week is coming up…
Our friend, Danielle Wilson has sent us an invite to the samsaara show.
Thanks!

Pulse Announces new Chief Operating Officer
Michael Schlicker is a great addition to the Pulse team. So I recommend you watch this space cause there’s something new brewing at Pulse…

iPhone to run Smart-control homes
To sum it up, the recession has shifted the consumer mindset when it comes to home automation systems. It’s no longer about novelty, but about energy efficiency. Pulse Technologies is offering a range of home automation products that assist the average consumer in monitoring the output of energy from your home…so your sure to save some cash.
Efficiency is a key requirement in all economic sectors, especially now with the global economic downturn. Why not bring it home as well?
BTW, a big thank you to our friends at Hill & Knowlton.
Released in Emirates 24/7 on 28/09/09.

Dubai gaining prominence as an IT hub
This is old news for one of our clients (Pulse), but was just released in the UAE Digest on 21/09/09. It’s clear international investors are looking to the Gulf and Dubai to tap into talent in a still growing market with Yahoo’s more recent acquisition of Maktoob and Intel Capital’s support of regional IT players (below) back in the Spring of 2009.
Dubai e-service for licence renewal
The Dubai Department of Economic Development launched a new e-service for businesses on its website for electronic license renewal www.dubaided.gov.ae/English/eServices
I have not yet used the Department of Economic Development’s e-service portal, would appreciate any feedback regarding ease of use, overall experience etc
I have used other government websites, Dubai traffic, fines
, Salik and whilst they enable to user to perform the task required, the overall experience is very stale and flat.
Personally I feel that most government websites globally need an overhaul in terms of IA and design, but at least in Dubai e-services are being rolled out to residents and businesses, it’s a good start.

Campaign Magazine’s viewpoint about Peace Day UAE campaign
As you may (or may not) be aware, I have been supporting the Peace Day UAE initiative on behalf of Collaborate Marketing, providing marketing assistance and managing the brand online (built the website with Flip Media and organized the social media Twitter, facebook etc).
Below is Campaign magazine’s opinion on the initiative and the fact that so many agencies can come together and work to create a multi media campaign in a very short time frame, in the name of a very noble cause.

Campaign Magazine - Opinion
Working on this initiative I have formed friendships with colleagues from numerous agencies and really enjoy the late nights planning and discussing the aspects of getting everything up and running for the 21st September.
We meet once weekly and are in contact each day ensuring the campaign runs perfectly.
So, what will you do to support peace on the 21st September?
Keep collaborating,
Claire
